Design:

Life is full of up-and-down's with lying-down horizontal lines representing hour one to six and straight-up vertical lines seven to twelve. 

Free and seemingly random, a tiny floating rectangule circles around the puzzle signalling every past minute, while seconds accumulate and penetrate deep trying to solve it.
