The app is real, but intended to demo how a backend deployed to IBM Bluemix can power interesting UIs. The server code is written with Node.js and uses Pitney Bowes and Cloudant services. The Pebble client app was written using Pebble.js in the CloudPebble IDE. Source for both is available on GitHub.
