I thing that must be most conscious in the display of the watch was minute.
In order to visualize the hour,dividing 24 hours by 4 sides.
A day Beginning from left below brick. 
It's increasing to the top from there.
I think most people may generally live as follows.
The brick in the left indicates sleeping time.
The brick in the top indicates before noon.
The brick in the right indicates after noon.
The brick in the bottom indicates time of night.
