The "Metric" day is split in 10 metric hours, which are split on 100 metric minutes, which at the end are split on 100 metric seconds. Isn't it cool?

The use of bells to mark the time stems from the period when seamen could not afford a personal time piece (i.e. a watch). The bell marks the hours of the watch in half-hour increments.
